8e2Many of us love the character of the windows on our period properties – but modern living exposes a few problems with some of the few remaining original timber sash windows; time consuming and expensive maintenance year after year, draughty, rattling sashes, and unsecure single glazing all mean that many of us are looking for a solution that solves these issues, yet doesn’t compromise on the authentic look.

We feel that our Bygone sash window can provide the solution to these problems. By sympathetically replicating the original character features of the window, whilst also using modern technology and materials to solve the issues of security, maintenance and insulation, the Bygone window is perfect for your period property.

Why choose Bygone?

Traditional Features – Whether it’s the deep bottom rail, the continuous decorative sash horns or the external staff bead, you can be sure that the Bygone window has captured it perfectly.
Decorative Timber Internal Finishing – We always finish our Bygone installations with new replica timber architraves (and hardwood internal cills) to keep all of that original character.
Modern Benefits – The Bygone sash window is ‘A’ Energy Rated as standard. It also holds the highly sought after ‘Secured by Design’ security accreditation so you can be sure that your home is secure as well as warm.

Alternatives to Bygone

Although the Bygone window is our most popular sash product we also offer other windows from the same range. Ask us about our Authentic or Classic sash windows, we can usually custom design a window spec to suit all tastes and budgets.

Energy Rating

BW-Contemp-enerygOur STORM 2 windows are now A+13 Energy Rated as standard. We use a combination of low Iron and low-E glass, Argon gas and warm edge spacer bars so that you and your family are kept warm and cosy. Remember, we guarantee all of our sealed glass units against ‘misting’ for lifetime!

Security

BW-features-sash-secThe Bygone sash window is one of a very select group of windows that has been awarded the Police recommended ‘Secured by Design’ accreditation. To attain this endorsement the window has to succesfully go through a series of vigorous attacks, with each part of the window being tested in turn using massive force.

Timber Internal Finish

BW-features-sash-timberWe feel that it’s extremely important to maintain all chraracter features where possible. That’s why we use traditional ogee timber architraves to the internal surrounds of your new Bygone sash windows, as well as hardwood internal window cills. And don’t worry, none of this timber is exposed to the elements so you need not fret about maintenance. An initial decoration is all they need. N.B We can also hand-run an architrave to your specific requirements.

Cream Wood

BW-finishes-sash-cwoodThe cream wood finish is a popular alternative to the white woodgrain finish. It can work perfectly with cottage style properties.

Continuous Sash Horn

BW-sash-hornA tell-tale sign of a cheaper, less traditional replacement sash window is a ‘stuck-on’ decorative sash horn. Our attention to traditional detail means that the Bygone sash window has been uniquely designed with a continuous sash horn – just like the originals.

Deep Bottom Rail

BW-sash-railOriginal sash windows had a bottom rail double the depth of the side rails. Then it was to give extra strength to the bottom of the sash, now we recreate this feature for it’s traditional aesthetics. Note the timber effect butt jointing.

Authentic Georgian Bars

BW-options-AGeorgianOur patented authentic Georgian bars are designed to exactly replicate both the outside putty-line style bars, as well as the slightly deeper internal ovalo bars that are such an important part of the depth and character of the originals. Available in all colour finishes.

Staff Bead

BW-sash-Staff-BeadAn authentic external staff bead is standard on all of our Bygone sash windows.

Torso Spring Balances

BW-sash-Staff-BeadPretensioned springs made to suit the exact size and weight of each sliding sash.

Easi-Clean Faciltiy

BW-sash-Staff-BeadAll Bygone sash windows have the tilt-in facility as standard so that you can always clean the outside of the windows with ease.
