A Porch Transformation
How Georgia brought new life to an aging porch

Georgia, in North London, had been living with an aging, outdated porch that didn’t reflect the charm of her 1930s home. The old porch, with its dated glass and draughty door, had become a bit of an eyesore and the unreliability of the door was a source of inconvenience. Georgia wanted a new porch that would enhance her home’s kerb appeal while providing a warm and functional entrance space.
“We really felt that it was time for a change,” said Georgia. “The old porch had done its job but we’d had problems with the lock which meant we were worried about its security. The glass design was also quite old fashioned, so we wanted to bring it up to date”
Georgia and her family visited our Barnet showroom to help with the decision making regarding the design of the door and windows. The choice was made to go for a traditional style composite door, in black, which gave a good balance of practicality and function. It was also decided to incorporate openings within the porch to help ventilate, too.
“It was so useful to visit the showroom. Tommy showed us a wide range of door designs and we were able to make decisions on the glass choice and door furniture as well as getting hands-on with the operation of the door”
The new porch installation went smoothly, and Georgia couldn’t be happier. The sleek design and quality craftsmanship immediately elevated the home’s exterior, while the insulated windows and door significantly reduced draughts. The additional space has also become a practical spot for storing shoes and coats, keeping the main hallway clutter-free.

“The new porch has completely transformed the front of my house—it’s both beautiful and practical. I love coming home to it every day.”
