Case Study
How A Showroom Visit Helped Evolve A Large Window Project
Getting hands on with the product range in person allows the right decision to be made for this large period property
Peter and Catherine’s large Edwardian house in North London was glazed with 1st generation double glazing. Their aluminium windows had served them well for over 30 years, but they were very much showing their age.
The homeowners’ first thought was to look to upgrade them to achieve modern standards but largely without altering the approach too much, keeping them aluminium, and as casement style hinged openers.
A visit from our consultant, Tommy, proposed an alternative approach – why not consider taking the windows back to the original style using Timber Alternative box sashes?
At three stories high, and with the distinct London Arch style to some windows, going back to the traditional period style would recapture the original character of the house, without compromising on the practicality of low-maintenance and efficiency.
A trip to the showroom was the next logical step. It was here he was able to compare our aluminium casement windows with our traditional sash range. Glossy brochures are one thing, but there’s no substitute for seeing products close-up and it was by visiting us that Peter was able to appreciate the traditional features of our Bygone Harmony sash window, including its subtle white woodgrain finish, slim midrail, and Timberweld Joints, allowing him to confidently decide on his new windows.
“The showroom is so important”, says Peter, “I was able to see every detail of the sash windows, and get hands on with the opening and closing of them (including the tilt-in facility for easy cleaning), to really get a gauge on the quality”.
The installation went smoothly, with Peter and Catherine delighted with their new Bygone Harmony sash windows.
“We were keen to use an independent company, and avoid the larger, national firms. We researched a lot online before starting the project, looking at reviews and testimonials, and don’t regret our decision to use Barnet Window Company at all. A job well done!”.
We thank Peter and Catherine for their custom and think their windows look fantastic.
