Jo’s Front Door Transformation – Winchmore Hill
Upgrading a family home in Winchmore Hill with the style and security it deserves.

The Challenge
Jo, a homeowner in the picturesque suburb of Winchmore Hill, had lived with her original first-generation UPVC panel front door for over 25 years. While the door had served its purpose for decades, it had become increasingly dated in appearance and, more importantly, lacked the modern security features Jo desired to keep her family safe.
She felt it was time for an upgrade—not only to elevate the visual appeal of her home but also to enhance the security and insulation performance of the entrance. Jo approached Barnet Window Company to discuss her options.
The Consultation
Jo met with Paul, one of our advisors, who took the time to understand her concerns and style preferences. A key priority was maintaining the harmony of her home’s exterior. With rosewood-coloured windows already installed—and similar tones used throughout her close—Jo was keen for the new door to blend seamlessly with its surroundings.
Another important consideration was natural light. Jo didn’t want to lose the brightness her hallway currently enjoyed. Together, she and Paul reviewed various sidelight and glass configurations that would allow for a good flow of light while still improving thermal performance and security.

The Design
Jo selected a Solidor composite front door in a rich rosewood finish, complete with a glazed sidelight. For the glasswork, she opted for an Art Deco-inspired design, offering a bold yet elegant aesthetic that added a “wow” factor to her entrance. This contemporary touch was further enhanced with brushed aluminium hardware, providing a clean and stylish contrast to the classic rosewood frame.
The final design successfully blended timeless tradition with modern flair, while delivering the security upgrades Jo had prioritised. The high-performance composite material of the door also provided greater durability and energy efficiency than her previous UPVC panel door.
The Result
Jo was thrilled with the transformation. The new door not only gave her peace of mind with enhanced security features, but also revitalised the appearance of her home. The rosewood finish was a perfect match for the property, and the elegant sidelight brought warmth and brightness to the hallway. Most importantly, the door now reflects Jo’s personal style—secure, stylish, and smart.
“I’m so pleased with the result. The new door looks fantastic, complements the rest of the house, and I finally feel secure. Paul really understood what I was looking for and helped me make the right choices every step of the way.” – Jo, Winchmore Hill
